Finding a name for characters, titles for stories and names for companies is no easy job, When our company was a whisper of an idea, Chitra Soundar went hunting for names.
Step 1 – She began by writing down everything that makes her joyful. From elephants to mangoes, seashells to rainbows, a word cloud was forming in her mind. The words included English, Tamil and Sanskrit words. When she had sufficient nouns and verbs on this idea cloud, she started making titles.
There were a few categories of names / words:
a) Funny words she liked
b) Words of Indian origin
c) Based on her personality and character
d) Story related words
e) Words that could hide initials of her family
Step 2 – Like a true children’s writer, she sounded them out. She read them aloud and tried it out on her family. In true democratic fashion, she polled her very long list of names into a shortlist.
Step 3 – And then in true spirit of being an awesome aunty, she asked her nephews to decide which one of the shortlists they would pick!
And voila! Jumping Kite was born!
Now how did we get the logo? That’s entirely another story for another time.
