Chitra soundar

Creator, Author, Storyteller & Speaker!

Chitra Soundar is an award-winning author of over 60 books for children. She creates content for TV, stage and audio for young audiences. She is currently developing shows based on her books and original projects!


Chitra is also the co-founder of C3MUK, a collective for PoC in the UK TV, film and games sector. Chitra has over 15 years of programme management experience in
multinational corporations.

Chitra holds a MA in Economics from Madras University, India and a
MA in Writing for Young People, Bath Spa University, UK. She has over 20 years of experience at senior levels of programme management at multinationals.

Chitra is a member of BAFTA CONNECT, Asians in Animation and Writers Guild of Great Britain. She also serves in the Inclusivity Committee of Children’s Media Conference.

Chitra has served as a Session Producer for CMC from 2022.

She is the founder of Colourful Connections – a collective for PoC in kids media.

She is also the co-founder of SAIL Fest – a festival of illustration and literature by UK South Asians

Chitra also curates books by British PoC at The Colourful Bookshelf.
